At Cast Outdoors, we provide endless Wilderness Adventures—and this one is no exception.

Our day trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness are an excellent opportunity to venture deep into one of North America's most spectacular wilderness areas and enjoy a scenic wilderness ride.

If you're up for a challenge and love adventure, dog sledding is just the thing. You'll be able to see sights you've never seen before and make memories that will last a lifetime!

SUNSET RUN

Our partial day experience is perfect for families looking for the right balance of adventure and reprieve from the cold.

Mid~Afternoon: mush from approximately 3-5 pm. You will arrive an additional hour prior to your departure time on trail.

Departure times vary according to the sunset.

Trip Details:

  • Receive an introduction to the history of mushing and safety instructions.

  • Meet the dogs and learn what is necessary to prepare a dog team for your trip. This includes: nutrition, physical exams, a massage routine, and proper harness & bootie application.

  • Hooks up! Off we go on a 5-6 mile trek into the wilderness.

  • Halfway breaktime-we will stop for photos and switch up riding positions if desired.

  • Hooks up! We're back on the trail, mushing 5-6 miles to the landing.

  • The sunset run starts in daylight and transitions to nighttime mushing by headlamp.

  • Arrive at the landing, trip reflection, take final photos, and say goodbyes.

  • Hot drinks included

FULL DAY

Get ready to feel the thrill with our full-day dogsled safari. Not for the faint of heart! Moderate physical fitness is required.

As we travel through the wilderness, we'll stop at several points to explore and take in the beauty of the BWCA. There will also be plenty of time for photographs, so don't forget your phone or camera.

This full day trip begins at 9 am and ends around 5 pm.

Trip Details:

  • 9am arrival at the lodge for safety brief, gear check, and instruction.

  • Receive an introduction to the history of mushing and safety instructions.

  • Meet the dogs and learn what is necessary to prepare a dog team for your trip. This includes: nutrition, physical exams, a massage routine, and proper harness & bootie application.

  • Hooks up! Off we go on an 10-15 mile trek into the wilderness.

  • Breaktime! Your guide will start a wood fire, and lunch is served. Hot drinks like cocoa, tea, and cider are also provided.

  • Hooks up! We're back on the trail, mushing 10-15 miles.

  • The sun will have set and we will be mushing by twilight through the wilderness.

  • Arrive at the landing, trip reflection, take final photos, and say goodbyes.

  • Soup with baguette, hot drinks & campfire included
